In the event of a power failure on a premises it is important that the exit routes are well illuminated to allow safe egress from the building. There are strict regulatory requirements laid down in IS3217:2013 – the Irish emergency lighting standard as published by the NSAI.

Every building owner has a legal obligation to ensure that the emergency lighting on their premises is fit for purpose and is designed, installed and maintained to the appropriate standard. IS3217:2013 indicates the minimum level of competency and experience that a system designer must have to certify a system.

Conventional Emergency Lighting systems incorporate a Manual Central Test Unit located at the fuse board / consumer unit where a test button is available for easy way to test the system. Once the emergency lighting circuits have been wired back to the CTU then this is an easy way to operate the system.

Under Irish law, strict regulatory requirements are set out in Emergency Lighting standard IS3217:2013 as published by the NSAI. It is essential that all exit routes are well illuminated to allow safe escape from a building in the event of a power failure.

Coleman Electronics offers the following Emergency Lighting Services:

There is a legal obligation to ensure that the emergency lighting on every building is fit for purpose and therefore should be designed, installed, commissioned and maintained to the appropriate standard IS3217:2013. This standard indicates the minimum level of competency and experience that a system commissioner must have to certify a system.

Addressable Emergency Lighting systems incorporate a Central Control Panel with low voltage cable wiring out to every emergency lighting devices. The central control panel which is located near the fuse board unit where an Audited Test Button located on the Smart Panel that which is used to test the Emergency Lighting System as per IS3217:2013 guidelines.

This can be a Manual or Automatic process of testing the system. A paper report can be used to monitor faults and ease of certification by service engineers. Addressable emergency lighting systems show when a fitting is at end of life.
